The 92 bedroom, Grade II listed Great Northern Hotel saw Terrain’s dB12 system specified throughout.
Polypipe worked with contractor Dornan Engineering to provide a flexible commercial drainage system that would minimise internal noise, resulting in the specification of the easy-to-install triple layered Terrain Acoustic dB12 drainage system.
Especially suited to large, multi-occupancy buildings such as hotels, Terrain dB12 was specified principally due to its acoustic rating.
With the hotel required to be operation prior to the commencement of London 2012, it was vital that the selected drainage solution could be supplied and installed to tight deadlines. Thanks to its ability to manufacture products off-site in its UK manufacturing facilities, Polypipe was able to supply pipe lengths and fittings to site ready for installation.
The contractor was able to quickly install dB12 without the need for specialist equipment, showing significant commercial advantages over traditional Cast Iron systems.
Polypipe’s technical support team were engaged by Dornan from an early design stage, providing an efficient solution that could significantly reduce internal noise and benefit the guests staying at the hotel.
The Great Northern Hotel is adjacent to the main Kings Cross Terminus in London. International consultancy and construction company, Mace, was the main contractor on the project which completed in December 2012.
