For Hailsham Cricket Club, cricket isn’t just a game, it’s life, involving the local community, regularly training, developing youth teams and keeping their pavilion and equipment up to a high standard that maintains engagement within the club - and Surestop, a UK manufacturer of water control solutions, were eager to help them.
Cricket pavilions are often the heart of a club, but due to the sport being seasonal, can often be left unattended for a couple of months within the year, especially over winter, when costly leaks from frozen pipes could occur with no one on-site to quickly react.
That’s why, whilst embarking on a refurbishment of it’s local pavilion, the Director of Hailsham Cricket, Rob Wilkinson, approached the Marketing Manager at Surestop, to donate product that would help protect the investment that they were making in their refurbishment project.
As Lisa Thomas, Marketing Manager at Surestop comments “We know recreational pavilions such as the one at Hailsham are often left empty and vulnerable to a leak during winter and with the amount of effort the team were putting into the refurbishment, including driving local activity to support their ‘clean-up our cricket area’ – also known as Cricket Force Day - donating a simple, proactive water control solution that they could use before leaving the pavilion empty, made sense”.
Lisa continues “The UK this winter has seen many homes without water due to frozen pipes bursting. The 6,000 households in Sussex, who were left without water due to bursting pipes, were just one of the worse affected areas and indeed the area where the Hailsham pavilion is based. Surestop water control solutions could have helped the homes impacted by these leaks, preventing costly damage and saving our lost water supply”.
Manufactured to instantly and easily control water, Surestop products simply stop the water supply with a flick of a switch – without the use of batteries and electrics – and instead, innovatively use the water pressure to shut-off the supply. Critical in the event of a leak or if leaving a property empty for a time, Surestop reliably also won’t seize up, unlike brass alternatives.
With versions for refurbishment and new build, Surestop valves can be quickly installed onto the pipework and in most cases with a discreet, remote switch for even greater ease of usability.
Rob Wilkinson comments, “We’re a growing Cricket Club at Hailsham, who see regular promotions throughout our divisions. Support from manufacturers, trade and suppliers to help improve and safeguard our pavilion and equipment is always appreciated. The last thing I wanted was a leak occurring and not being around to stop it, therefore having a simple button to switch off the supply when I leave the club, will give me that added peace of mind”.
