Ease of handling
Weighing up to 94% less than conventional concrete and clay pipes, advanced plastic systems are easier to transport and handle on site reducing the amount of machinery, time and labour required to install them.

The ground beneath our feet is constantly in motion and even more so when experiencing more sudden and dramatic movement from external events such as flooding or extreme temperatures. Plastic has a degree of flexibility making the installed pipes much less susceptible to failure than rigid alternatives.
Following installation, long-term pipeline integrity minimises the risk of leakage. Due to the lightweight nature of plastic it allows much longer lengths of pipe to be installed so that the system requires fewer joints and so a significantly reduced risk of leaks. In fact, according to the results of the TEPPFA SMP Project, plastic pipe systems have shown 75% fewer leaks than pipe made from more rigid materials.
Plastic pipes boast an extremely smooth inner surface which reduces friction and resistance boosting the efficiency of the system.
Due to the lightweight nature of the material, Polypipe thermoplastic sewer pipes like Polysewer and Ridgisewer require less transportation and heavy duty machinery for movement than rigid material alternatives. The products boast an overall lifespan of up to 100 years. What’s more, at the end of its life the material is 100% recyclable.
