Terrain FUZE
Terrain FUZE is a high performance, modern drainage system which has been used on a wide range of prestigious commercial buildings.
Polypipe Building Services, the UK’s leading manufacturer and specialist in building services solutions was selected to supply drainage solutions to the new £83m International Conference Centre Wales (ICC Wales).
ICC Wales is a joint venture between the Welsh Government and Celtic Manor Resort, the host venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup and the 2014 NATO Summit. It will accommodate more than 5,000 delegates and it is estimated that it will generate £70m a year for the Welsh economy. Kent-based Polypipe Building Services supplied hundreds of metres of Terrain FUZE for the installation of the rainwater system together with PVCu pipework for the commercial drainage system installation. Installers KS Barry (Plumbing & Heating) Ltd decided to use the Terrain FUZE system on the rainwater water installation with sizes ranging from 110mm 160mm. The UPVC system was installed on the commercial drainage works. Terrain FUZE is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), weighs less than cast iron systems and is available in longer lengths, which require less jointing.
The Push-Fit Soil range is light in weight and easy to handle and also allows quick, easy installation. KS Barry, the Cardiff based plumbing company needed to install a system and product that could be trusted not to leak. ICC Wales opened in the autumn of 2019 and has already hosted a wide variety of prestigious events including the UK Space Conference for 2,100 delegates, the Green Party Conference for 750 delegates, and An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger gala dinner for 1,300 guests. The Newport venue includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free main hall, a 1,500-seated auditorium, 15 exible meeting rooms, a double-height glass atrium and a 2,500sqm outdoor plaza.
The developers were John Sisk and Son Ltd and Sisk Builders Contractors. Celtic Manor Resort is a golf, spa, leisure and business destination in Newport, South East Wales. It has been voted the UK’s Best Hotel at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards for nine of the last 10 years.
Ian Harcombe, contracts manager, KS Barry, said: “This was a challenging project for KS Barry but we were very pleased to have successfully completed another prestigious contract. We chose to partner with Polypipe Building Services as their products were ideal for the purposes of the project and we have the con dence in the quality of the services that they offer.”
